Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy

This Policy explains how SharpenResume uses cookies, localStorage, IndexedDB, pixels, and similar technologies on https://sharpenresume.com. It applies together with the Privacy Policy.
1. What these technologies are
Cookies are small files or values that a website stores or transmits through the browser. localStorage and IndexedDB can retain preferences, identifiers, process state, or temporary local copies of files. Some technologies are necessary for the service to work; others, if added, may be used for analytics or advertising.
2. Categories used
- Strictly necessary: authentication, security, process continuity, file recovery, and payment.
- Preferences: retaining the selected language, market, and privacy choices.
- First-party operational measurement: technical and interaction events sent directly to SharpenResume without creating a third-party analytics cookie.
- Google Ads: Advanced Consent Mode for purchase measurement.

4. Sessions and authentication
Session cookies securely associate uploads and processes with the corresponding User and protect the Dashboard. Authentication cookies are used only to maintain the account session and are cleared when you sign out or when they expire.
5. Language, market, and privacy preferences
Language and market preferences may be stored to maintain a consistent experience between pages, adapt the presentation of the service, and show available currency or regional information. We also store your cookie choice so we do not ask on every visit. You can change these preferences through the site selectors or cookie panel, or by deleting site data.
6. Process recovery and local files
SharpenResume may store identifiers, file name, current step, asset identifier, and technical process status in localStorage. IndexedDB may temporarily retain the selected PDF, Word document, text, or image on your device so an interrupted upload can resume. This data remains in browser storage until the process is reset, invalidated, or deleted by you.
7. Stripe
Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies when the payment component loads or is used to authenticate transactions, prevent fraud, comply with regulatory obligations, and display compatible methods. Stripe controls their names and retention periods. SharpenResume does not use Stripe technologies for its own behavioral advertising.
8. Operational events and acquisition parameters
SharpenResume records first-party events relating to visits, uploads, analysis, Results, checkout, and payment status. They may include a random identifier, viewport, limited technical information, and parameters already present in the URL, such as UTM, oppref, gclid, gbraid, wbraid, or gad_source. These events are sent directly to SharpenResume and do not create a third-party analytics cookie or a separate persistent advertising identifier in the browser.
9. Analytics, advertising, and other trackers
Google Ads uses Advanced Consent Mode. The Google tag loads with optional consent denied and may send cookieless measurement signals before you decide or after you reject optional cookies. Advertising storage and advertising user data are enabled only with marketing consent; ad personalization stays disabled. Confirmed purchase events include an order ID, the amount and currency, without resume content, email addresses or private return tokens. With marketing consent, we retain permitted click IDs and campaign parameters in sessionStorage for up to 24 hours and link a snapshot to the order for up to 90 days. Google advertising cookies (_gcl_*) can last up to 90 days. You can change or withdraw consent in Cookie preferences. Choices expire after one year, and a material policy change requires a new choice. Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Microsoft UET and Clarity remain inactive.
10. User controls
You can delete or block cookies, localStorage, and IndexedDB through your browser’s privacy or site-data controls. Blocking necessary technologies may sign you out, prevent payment, or stop recovery of an interrupted process.
The cookie panel lets you accept, reject, or configure optional categories. Strictly necessary technologies may be used without consent where they are essential to provide a requested service, maintain security, or remember your choices. Optional cookie storage will not be enabled without consent. Google Ads may send cookieless measurement signals as described above. Withdrawing consent will be as easy as giving it.
11. International users
In the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with equivalent rules, we will request prior consent to store or access information on a device when it is not strictly necessary. In the United States and other jurisdictions that recognize opt-out rights, we will honor legally applicable requests concerning the sale, targeted advertising, or sharing of personal information.
12. Do Not Sell or Share and Global Privacy Control
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If these practices change, we will provide an appropriate link and opt-out mechanisms and will recognize signals such as Global Privacy Control when legally required.
13. Changes
We may update this Policy when the technologies used or legal obligations change. The update date will appear at the beginning.
